It takes many people and lots of resources to ensure the success of a community event like a 5K happen. Many thanks to the City of Portsmouth (Mayor David Malone) for making a proclamation, the use of the streets, barricades, Tracy Park, the availability of fire and police personnel to ensure the safety of the race route. In addition, LIFE ambulance was present in the event that there was an emergency. Thankfully, everyone finished the course without incidence. Many thanks to The Portsmouth Daily Times and WNXT radio for publicity.
It was a beautiful morning and despite the windy conditions, the overall consensus to date was that it was a great event. There were 245 men, women and children registered to go the course with some coming from out of town.
This year’s event included volunteers from The Counseling Center, Shawnee State University and Notre Dame. We want everyone to know that their time is very much appreciated.
The Counseling Center presents this annual fundraiser to benefit underfunded prevention services for youth that is currently available in Scioto County.
We are also sincerely grateful to the event sponsors.
