Tartans win first tennis match in three years

The East tennis team did something that it ha not done in at least three years Tuesday afternoon it came out on the winning side of the match. The Tartans were able to knock off SOC I foe Notre Dame 3-2 Tuesday.

The win did not come easily against the Titans. Ryan Tabor lost the first set of his match with Corey Marting, But Tabor battled back and took the match from Marting in three sets. Nick Adkins had to fight back from the same predicament Tabor found himself to win his match.

The No. 2 doubles pair for East did not relinquish a game to their opponents and gave East the taste of victory something very new to the Tartans.

"It was pretty even competition," said East coach Lance Allen. "I think the extra experience helped us in this match."

No. 1 Singles - Ryan Tabor (E) def. Corey Marting (ND) 2-6, 6-4 , 6-2

No. 2 Singles - Nick Adkins (E) def. Erin Harris (ND) 3-6, 6-4, 6-1

No. 3 Singles - Ian Stroey (ND) def. Alex Lindamood (E) 6-2, 6-2

No. 1 Doubles - Matt Sabb/Cameron Stevenson (ND) def. Kalli Brine/Victor Coldiron (E) 6-3, 6-2

No. 2 Doubles - Tana Timberlake/Jeremy Jones (E) def. Allison Morton/ Jacob Taylor (ND) 6-0, 6-0
