According to Dave Prater of Porter Township Fire Department, the fires occurred simultaneously at two vacant houses on Marne Avenue in Porter Township, at about 1:20 a.m. Thursday morning. The two houses sit next to one another, and a third house next to them also was damaged by the heat of nearby flames.
The fires reportedly were contained in about one hour.
