He was born Oct. 28, 1922, in Greenup County, Ky., a son of the late George Washington Callihan and Bessie Adams Callihan. He was a retired heavy equipment operator, and a member of the Operators and Engineers of Columbus, Kentucky Heights Nazarene Church in Quincy, Ky., and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Margaret Smith Callihan. Also surviving are two sons, Donald Callihan of Ellenton, Fla., and David Callihan of South Bloomfield, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Linda Holbrook and her husband, Edward Holbrook, of West Carrollton, Ohio, and Faye Armstrong of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; one grandson; three stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He also was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Callihan; two brothers, Earl Callihan and Bill Callihan; and six sisters, Mary Stheiroff, Clara Morgan, Nora Everman, Dolly Chapman, Peggy Hurt and Dorothy Shope.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with the Rev. Norman Potter officiating. Burial will be in Firebrick Cemetery in Firebrick, Ky. Military graveside services will be conducted by James L. Flannery Post 276 of South Shore, Ky. Friends may call from noon until the funeral hour Wednesday at the funeral home.
