Voters face major decisions|New Clay school building, presidential race on ballot

The Ohio Primary Election is Tuesday, and voters will be asked to weigh in on a variety of topics ranging from local schools to whom they would like to see represent their party in the presidential election this fall.

Locally, the top issue is the Clay Local School District's issue to build a new pre-K-12 school building. Because of changes in state regulations, the state would pay $17 million of the $21 million cost.

Of course, arguably the largest matter on the ballot is the presidential primary elections. Voters from the Democratic and Republican parties will cast their vote for their respective candidates.

On the Republican side, voters are asked to select two separate delegates-at-large and alternates-at-large from either Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson and John McCain. Also featured on the ballot, though no longer running, is Rudy Giuliani. Others also have left the race, but according to the Scioto County Board of Elections, Giuliani is the only one to have legally asked his name to be removed from consideration at this time.

A 2nd District delegate and alternate also is being chosen from the list of candidates for the national convention.
