Every few years, it seems, Clay puts together a plan for a new school building - and as predictable as the sunrise, voters rejected it. But last summer, something truly remarkable happened that changed everything.
The Ohio School Facilities Commission increased its state funding for many schools in Ohio. For Clay, the state share increased from 49 percent to 81 percent. The result: Local voters only would be responsible for 19 percent of the total cost of a new $21-million school building.
