Helen Lucille Lewis, 85, of Portsmouth, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Bristol Village in Waverly.

Born Nov. 26, 1922, in Elliott County, Ky., she was a daughter of the Eddie and Gaythel Sparks, and a member of Portsmouth Eastern Star.

Also preceding her in death was her husband, Hassel M. Lewis, whom she married Jan. 9, 1946; a son, Ronald Lewis of Roanoke, Va.; and a sister, Nora Wilson of New Boston.

Helen is survived by three sons, Michael (Debbie) Lewis of Chillicothe, Richard (Carol) Lewis of McDermott and Ben (Pat) Lewis of West Portsmouth; a sister-in-law, Lana Lewis of Roanoke, Va.; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Ron Jr., Teresa, Christina, and Jennifer; and five great-grandchildren, Cade, Carson, Alexis, Brayden and Larrin.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth, with the Rev. Gerald Penix officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at Brant
