Bobcats survive late Clay run

Green survived a late run by Clay to advance to a sectional final after defeating the Panthers 49-42 on Monday at Valley High School.

Chris Willard led the Bobcats with 14 points and three steals. Randy Ratcliff scored 12 points with 11 rebounds for a double-double.

The Panthers were led by Evan Keaton and T.J. Mershon, each of who scored 15 points.

Green plays East next Monday at Valley for the sectional championship.

Peebles pulled an upset on Monday at Waverly, defeating No. 4 seeded Lynchburg-Clay by five points to advance to a sectional championship.

Blake Justice led the Indians with 23 points, five rebounds, three steals and six crucial free throws down the stretch. Andrew Seaman had nine points and eight rebounds while Tyler Arnold scored 12 points with seven assists.
