Helen R. Shaffer, 76, of Sand Hill, Wheelersburg, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at SOMC Hospice.

Helen was born July 2, 1931, in Sciotoville, a daughter of the late Freelon Hall and Nellie Stout Hall. She was a faithful member of Sand Hill Christian Baptist Church and a loving wife, mother and grandmother to all who knew her.

Surviving are her husband, Curtis David Shaffer, whom she married June 25, 1949, in Greenup, Ky.; one son, David Lee Shaffer (Clara Belle) of Portsmouth; four daughters, Margaret (Tom) Chapman of Wheelersburg, Beverly Tobiason of Wheelersburg, Donna (Robert) Anglin of Haynesville, La., and Brenda (Tony) Mollett of Franklin Furnace; three brothers, Jack Hall of Wheelersburg, Roger Hall of Dayton, and Freelon Hall Jr. of Wheelersburg; five sisters, Clara Young of Long Beach, Miss., Dorothy Carmichael of New Boston, Loretta Blackburn of Minford, Etta Besco of Wheelersburg, and Sandy Oppy of Wheelersburg; a special nephew, Dean Hall of Wheelersburg; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor Jane Hall.

Funeral services will take place 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with Ronnie Blevins officiating and burial in Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m., and one hour before the service at the funeral home.
