Incident took place at State Electric Supply
New Boston Police Department is investigating an aggravated robbery that it reports occurred at State Electric Supply Company, 3200 Rhodes Ave., on Friday, at about 6:40 p.m.
According to New Boston police, an employee was walking out of the store after it closed while a subject was "laying in wait" for him, approached him and struck him in the head, which caused a minor injury.
The subject then grabbed a money bag that contained cash and checks.
The victim said the subject fled on foot, in what he described as a southwest direction and possibly could have gone into a rail yard area, which officers searched and failed to locate the subject.
The suspect was described as a 6-foot-tall, white male, with a slim build, weighing about 170 pounds. The suspect also was reported to have medium-length, brown hair, and was wearing dark colored pants, and what was described as a "dirty-looking Ohio State jacket."
New Boston Police say they believe the suspect could be acquainted with the immediate area of Walnut Street, Buch Street and the 2900 block of Gallia Street, either by living in the area or hanging out in that neighborhood.
Anyone with information on the robbery, or the suspect, can call the NBPD hotline at (740) 456-4144, or call its dispatch line at (740) 456-4109.
