A woman was seriously injured when she was shot in the stomach on Saturday, according to the Lewis County (Ky.) sheriff.

At about 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, a call was received by the Lewis County Sheriff's Department, reporting Anthony Flannery, 52, shot Christina Hall, 32, at his home in Firebrick, Ky.

Hall was transported by private vehicle to Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, and was later airlifted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Meanwhile, deputies from the Lewis County Sheriff's Department surrounded Flannery's residence, where they were able to take him into custody without incident.

Officers from the sheriff's department believe the shooting was the result of an argument that the two had earlier over drugs. During his arrest, a .22 caliber revolver was recovered that is thought to have been used in the shooting. Deputy Mike Edington of the Lewis County Sheriff's Department said officers also recovered more than 100 bottles of schedule I and schedule II prescription narcotics.

Hall was listed in critical condition early Saturday morning, according to Edington, and by late afternoon the hospital had upgraded her condition to serious.

Flannery was arrested and charged with first-degree assault. He was taken to Lewis County Detention Center and will have a preliminary hearing in Lewis Circuit Court on Tuesday.
