Clay was running on all cylinders against Symmes Valley on Monday at home, winning 72-41.
Dani Summers scored 20 points with six rebounds and Kristen Adams had 15 points with 14 rebounds, 10 of which were offensive. Cami Groves contributed nine points and seven rebounds in the win. Mallory White had eight points, four assists and four steals.
“We got off to a good start and played real well in the first quarter,” Clay coach Kelly White said. “We shot the ball really well. We did a really good job on the boards. We had 45 total rebounds. We took care of the ball and only turned the ball over 10 times.”
The Clay JV team also won, improving to 10-1.
Clay's next game is Thursday at Eastern.

The Lady Tartans are on a roll. After a 1-11 start to the season, East has won three-straight with wins over Green, Symmes Valley and now Notre Dame.
The game came down to the wire on Monday. East's Jennifer Swick hit a 3 to put East ahead by two with 1:30 to play, but the Lady Titans' Chrissy Glockner responded with a score to tie the game. Swick then hit a free throw, East got a defensive stop and Cierra Wright scored the final two of her 20 points from the foul line to ice the game with three seconds to play.
“It was really a great game for us to win because we came from nine points down in the fourth quarter,” East coach Jack Branon said. “We were able to come back and make a run at them and get the lead. It was really close down at the end.”
East travels to Western Pike Thursday.

Minford 60, Waverly 44
Minford jumped out to a 14-point lead after one quarter and held on to defeat Waverly at home on Monday.
Whitney McManus scored 22 points with six steals to lead all scorers and Breslyn Harris added 20 points and five rebounds. Kelli Martin had four assists.
“Waverly is a patient team on offense and I think that didn't play into our game plan,” Minford coach Kim Conley said. “We played hard, but there were times we didn't capitalize on a turnover or got in too big of a hurry. Overall, it was a good win for us.”
Minford's next game is a makeup game at West on Wednesday. Game time is 6 p.m. for the varsity. There is no JV game scheduled.

Lainee Clay and Brooke Baker had 16 points apiece and 11 girls scored for the Lady Pirates in the win on Monday. Wheelersburg improves to 14-1 overall and 10-2 in the SOC II.
Jessica Blanton added 11 points in the win.
“I was pleased that we had some balanced scoring tonight,” Wheelersburg coach Dusty Spradlin said. “We shared the basketball well, especially in the second half.”
Alex Phipps led West in scoring with 11 points.

Valley 42, Northwest 38
Michelle Mains scored 14 points and caused seven deflections during a comeback and Courtnie Merritt added 13 points and six steals as the Lady Indians came back from a first quarter deficit to take a close game at Northwest on Monday.
Valley scored only six points in the first quarter, but held the Lady Mohawks to 13 points in the second and third quarters to take the lead. Valley never lost it from there.
Megan Burford led Northwest with 14 points and Brittany Griffith had nine in the loss.
Valley, which evens its SOC record at 5-5, plays Wheelersburg on Thursday.

The Lady Tigers opened up the game on a 9-0 run and never looked back as the team stayed atop the SOC I standings. Kayla Wiley had 22 points and 10 rebounds and Alyssa Raines added 12 points and nine rebounds for New Boston in the win. Katie Williams scored six points with seven rebounds and five assists.
“In the first three quarters, they hung right there,” New Boston coach Jon Estep said. “In the start of the fouth quarter we were able to gain some momentum.”
New Boston's next game is Thursday at Notre Dame at 6 p.m. for varsity. No JV game is scheduled.
Amber Howell had 13 points and Courtney Rowe contributed 15 points for Eastern Pike in the loss.
“That start just killed us,” Eastern Pike coach Rob Day said. “We played well with them. We got it to 38-33, but they took off and we let things go.”
