Alice Helen Anderson, 75, of Portsmouth, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Heartland of Portsmouth.

She was born Dec. 6, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late George and Helen Neal Olsen.

Alice was a homemaker and a loving mother, and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church and the former Franklin Avenue United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Tribote, Emily Johnson and Genieve Peterson, and a brother, George Olsen, all of Brooklyn; another brother, Gilbert Olsen of Port Jeffersonstation, N.Y.; and a granddaughter, Holly Anderson of Richmond Hills, Ga.

Alice is survived by her husband, William Anderson; three sons, William R. Anderson (Rebecca) of Richmond Hills, Ga., Roger Anderson of Portsmouth and James C. Anderson (Tamara) of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Beth Ann Fite (Michael) of Wheelersburg; two sisters, Evelyn Hannaman of Bay Shore, N.Y., and Delores Nielson (Richard) of Massapequa, N.Y.; and a brother, Otto Olsen of Seattle, Wash.

She also is survived by 10 grandchildren, Heidi Hunter (Scott), Heather Anderson and Hope Anderson of Richmond Hills, Ga., Brian Fite in the U.S. Air Force, Chris Fite in the U.S. Air Force, Nathan Fite of Wheelersburg, Rachel Anderson of Newark, Ohio, Eric Reichenbacher, Nicholas Anderson and Craig Anderson of Las Vegas, Nev.; and five great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Lauren, Ethan and Caleb Hunter and Haley Anderson all of Richmond Hills, Ga.

The funeral for Alice will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth, with the Rev. Clark Hess officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Visitation will be at Daehler's on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
