He was born June 4, 1923, in New Boston, a son of the late Earl Riddlebarger and Jessie Louise Burkhardt Riddlebarger. He was a member of Wheelersburg Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the VFW, member of Wheelersburg Western-Sun Masonic Lodge 91, Wheelersburg Order of the Eastern Star 516, Scottish Rite, a Kentucky colonel, Black Potters Camping Club, Sam's Camping Club, National Campers and Hikers Association, the Airstream Camping Club, and he retired from Ohio Power after 35 years of service.
He was married April 6, 1946, in Wheelersburg, to Helen Dorothy Gleim Riddlebarger, who preceded him in death May 20, 2005.
Surviving are four daughters, Betty Ann Horton, and husband, Chuck of Wheelersburg, Karletta Kay Tolbert of Wheelersburg, Dottie Jean Riddlebarger of Wheelersburg, and Kimberly Sue McClintic, and husband, Roger, of South Webster; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by one son, Richard Dee Riddlebarger; two brothers, George and Walter Riddlebarger; and two sisters, Ruth Myers and Mariam Riddlebarger.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with the Rev. Garry Proehl officiating and burial in Memorial Burial Park, with military graveside rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and one hour before the services Monday at the funeral home, where Masonic services will take place at 8 p.m. Sunday.
