Katherine Deloris Born McCoy, 85, of Portsmouth, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at Heartland of Portsmouth.

She was born Jan. 19, 1922, in Clay Township, to the late George Jacob and Jessie Marie Wymer Born.

Katherine was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and a World War II Navy veteran. A member of the first LPN class at Madonna Hall, she retired after more than 20 years of service as an LPN at the former Portsmouth Receiving Hospital.

Surviving are three sons, Thomas Oliver McCoy of Biloxi, Miss., Daniel Asbury (Pam) McCoy of Lucasville, and Eugene Kregg McCoy of Huntington, W.Va.; a daughter, Carolyn “Susie” Fisher of Columbus; a brother, George Born Jr., of Columbus; three sisters, Georgetta Ellis of Columbus, Dorothy Buckle of Dayton and Janice Munyon of West Harrison, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Pinkston.

Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with the Rev. Ted Machnik officiating and interment in Greenlawn Cemetery. James Dickey Post 23 American Legion will conduct military graveside services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the services Monday.
