Eugene W. Liles, 90, of New Boston, went to be with his Lord Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, in Southern Ohio Medical Center's emergency room.

He was born April 9, 1917, in New Boston, a son of the late Everett and Myrtle Cooper Liles. He was a retired crane operator at the former Detroit Steel Corp., served with the U.S. Air Force in WWII, was a member of New Boston First Church of the Nazarene and attended Sacred Mission Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a RSVP volunteer for many years, a board member of USSA and a member of the former Male Chorus. He was president of the New Boston Over 55 Club.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Jordan Liles, whom he married Aug. 22, 1952, in New Boston; two sons, David Liles, and wife, Karen of Wheelersburg, and Larry Liles, and special friend, Nancy Clever of New Boston; and three grandchildren, Kimberly (Matthew) Ison of Tennessee, and Tabitha (Ryan) Lore and Jared Liles, both of Wheelersburg.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Frankie Royster and Hilda Bush Whitt; and two infant brothers, Ogle Liles and Frank Liles.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Sacred Mission Church, with the Rev. James Benner officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston, and noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
