Thurman Herbert Pertuset Sr., 75, of West Portsmouth, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007.

He was born Oct. 16, 1932, in West Portsmouth. He is the son of the late Herbert and Isabel (Oppy) Pertuset.

He was a graduate of Otway High School, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, a retired carpenter of Carpenters Local 437, and a member of Henley Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Fonda (Dunn) Pertuset of 52 years, whom he married April 30, 1955; three sons, Thurman (Pam) Pertuset Jr. of McDermott, Richard (Vickie) Pertuset of Minford and Philip (Peggy) Pertuset of West Portsmouth; three daughters, Kathy (Tony) Cooper of Canton, Ohio, Patty (Mike) Mohrfeld of Aiken, S.C., and Gloria (Steve) Pistole of Wheelersburg; two brothers, Bernard (Nancy) Pertuset and Wayne (Brenda) Pertuset, both of McDermott; 11 grandchildren, Michelle Crabtree, Tommy (Renee) Jones, Stacy Fausnaugh, Paul (Lauren) Cooper, Megan (Ben) Morrison, Kyle Pertuset, Brett Pertuset, Nathan Cooper, Josh, Jessie and Hunter Pistole; and three great-grandchildren, Cole, Allie and Ethan Morrison. He also is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, and was a friend and joke teller to all. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Frances Wiley Jr. and Tony Cooper officiating. Interment will be in Garvin Cemetery in McDermott with Graveside Military Rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour before the services on Wednesday.
