The Iota Eta Chapter of Sigma Phi Gamma International Sorority is accepting applications for the $1,000 college scholarship. Applicants must be a resident of Pike County and have graduated from a Pike County high school or Waverly High School and enrolled as a full-time student (12 credit hours or more) at an accredited college or university in Ohio.

Applicants may pick up an application at the OU Branch in Chillicothe, Shawnee State University or send an SASE to Helen Slaughter, 406 Franklin Ave., Waverly, OH 45690. This application must be received by the third Monday in February.

Tax budget is available

Two copies of the tax budget for Wheelersburg Local School District are on file in the office of the treasurer of Wheelersburg Board of Education. These are for public inspection, and a public hearing will take place at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 3 at the Board of Education Building, 620 Center St., Wheelersburg.

Blood drive is Wednesday

The Red, White and Youth Council of Glenwood High School will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at New Boston Community Building, 3980 Rhodes Ave., New Boston. Regular blood donors are asked to consider reserving this date for their next donation. If you've never given blood, consider being a first- time donor during this holiday season. To schedule a time for your blood donation, call GHS at (740) 456-4559 and ask for Megan Keaton or Alex Evans. Walk-ins will be welcomed.

All donors will need identification.
