Pickup is on schedule
Garbage pickup in Portsmouth will be on regular schedule the week of Thanksgiving holiday Nov. 22 and 23.
Conferences are Tuesday
Parent/teacher conferences in the Portsmouth City School District will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. There will be no school for teachers and students Wednesday.
There will be no school for students Nov. 26, as teachers will be participating in a districtwide inservice.
Classes will resume Nov. 27.
Kentucky library shows movies
Special movie showings for children of all ages will be Monday and Tuesday at the Greenup Public Library, 614 Main St., Greenup, Ky. Popcorn will be served with the free movie.
“Shrek the Third” will be show at 1 p.m. Monday, and “Meet the Robinsons” will be shown at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Bake sale is Wednesday
A pre-Thanksgiving Day bake sale will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Russell D. Williams Post American Legion, 950 Gallia St. The sale is open to the public.
Ribbon cutting will be Tuesday
Clyde W. Willis, Scioto County engineer, announces there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday to open the newly replaced Arion Road bridge. State Rep. Todd Book will be on hand to cut the ribbon and will be the featured speaker. Scioto County Commissioner Mike Crabtree also will speak.
