A Greenup County, Ky., man is accused of engaging in sex with a minor on Wednesday, after a family member of the victim notified authorities.
Jeremy Shane Fields, 30, of Greenup, was arrested by Kentucky State Police in Ashland, Ky., following what they describe as an “extensive investigation.”
According to the report from the Kentucky State Police, the victim's mother reported the incident to KSP Post 14 in Boyd County, Ky.
Fields has been charged with sodomy, a third-degree felony, after investigators say he unlawfully engaged in illegal sexual activity with a minor younger than 16 on Wednesday, at about 1:30 p.m.
After the report from the victim's mother, troopers were able to arrest Fields without incident at his residence. He is lodged in Greenup County Detention Center.
The report by the KSP said additional charges are pending and may be issued after the case is presented to a Greenup County grand jury. The actual date for the session of the grand jury that will hear the case has not been released.
The case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Post 14 Detective Jim Goble.
