James Dale Lutz, 61, passed away at his home in Ocala, Fla. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, following a brief illness with cancer. He was born July 21, 1946, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Fern A. and Eugene B. Lutz.

A graduate of New Boston High School, he was a longtime resident of Ports-mouth. He moved to Detroit, Mich., in the late '90s, and upon retirement, relocated to Ocala, Fla., to be close to his daughter, son-in-law and “grand-dogs.” Jimmey's hobbies included gambling, fishing, and visiting with friends and family. He was a member of Ohio Carpenters and Millwrights Local No. 1102.

He is survived by a daughter, Lana L. Lutz, and son-in-law, Clinton P. Smith, both of Ocala, Fla.; three brothers, Charles Lutz of Richmond, Va., William Lutz of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Raymond Lutz of West Portsmouth, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elana “Sue” Lutz; and two brothers, Russell and Marvin Lutz, both of Portsmouth, Ohio.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, Ohio, with Rev. Robert Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Old Wheelersburg Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, and one hour before the service on Friday.
