She was born March 26, 1939, in Salyersville, Ky., the daughter of the late Dewey Russell and Bertha (Rigsby) Russell Howard. On March 9, 1957, Lorena was united in marriage to Bearl Nickell, who survives.
Also surviving are two children, Terry Nickell, and wife, Rhonda, of Waverly and Connie Edgell, and husband, Gerry, of Waverly; nine grandchildren, Lee Donahue, Jesica, Gerry Jr., Doug, David and Lorena “Lori” Edgell, and Gannon, Riley and Chloe Nickell, all of Waverly; and one sister, Missouri Lewis and husband, Edward of Piketon.
In addition to her parents, Lorena was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Edward Paul and Willie Gene Russell; and one sister, Lucy Montgomery.
Lorena was a member of Straight Creek Enterprise Baptist Church in Waverly, and was a homemaker.
Funeral services will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly with Brother Henry Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Beaver Union Cemetery, Beaver. Friends may call at the funeral home 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday and 9 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.
