East 28, South Gallia 12

Brian Hoover made the best of an opportunity to be East's main rusher on Friday.

After an injury sidelined tailback Dustin Bradford, Hoover got the lion's share of the carries and ran for 236 yards on 29 carries, including three touchdowns in a 28-12 drubbing of South Gallia on the road.

The win improves East to 8-0 this season with only two games remaining. East is also tied with Notre Dame for first in the SOC I at 2-0.

East scored the first two touchdowns of the game, but South Gallia rallied in the second quarter, scoring its second touchdown after a controversial fumble call on East gave the Rebels the ball.

East takes on Green at Allard Park on Friday.

The win improves the Titans to 2-0 in the SOC I heading into a week nine showdown in Willow Wood with Symmes Valley. If the Titans manage to get by the Vikings unscathed, an SOC I championship, or at least a share of it, will be on the line week 10 at Allard Park in Sciotoville.

Waverly 37, Valley 7

Sometimes a team has to take solace in the small victories.

Valley may have lost to Waverly 37-7 on Friday in Waverly, but they did manage to score and were only down 14 at halftime.

“I felt like only being down 14-0 at halftime, our kids were still very much in the ball game,” Valley coach Darren Crabtree said. “We played well defensively. There were some bright spots. Again, any time you lose 37-7, you got some work to do, but Waverly is a very good football team.”

For Waverly, Trevor Walls threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns to Derek Roback. Kevin Malone and Ramone Conley each scored rushing touchdowns.
