Southern Ohio Medical Center is inviting the public to join in a 5K walk through residential Portsmouth Saturday, beginning on SOMC South Campus. Registration will be at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 9 a.m. Proceeds will benefit local heart programs offered through the American Heart Association.

“We're excited about raising awareness of heart health issues,” Amy Beinkampen, director of Heart and Vascular Services, said. “As we continue to expand heart services at SOMC to address this critical need in our area, the walk will help get people thinking more about heart and vascular fitness, as well as helping the American Heart Association.”

Walk participants can get sponsors and use a registration packet, or provide a donation upon registering the day of the event. For more information or to obtain a packet, call SOMC Heart and Vascular Services at (740) 356-8308.
