Harold Edward Zornes, 90, of South Webster, went to be with the Lord Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.

He was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Bloom Township, a son of the late Effie May Carmichael and Pearl Zornes.

He was a graduate of South Webster High School and a World War II veteran of the United States Army. Harold attended Grace United Methodist Church in South Webster.

He enjoyed attending South Webster High School basketball games, as well as participating in many community activities. He especially enjoyed the Possum Gang card club and the company of his many friends. He worked as postmaster in South Webster for more than 25 years, and also owned and operated Zee & Dee restaurant.

Harold was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby Stiles, and husband, Harold Stiles, and Lucille Benz, and husband, Carl Benz; nephew, David Benz; niece, Susie Bandy; and brothers-in-law, Larry Cayton and Challis Bandy.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eileen Holmes-Zornes; daughters, Teresa Crump and Kimberly (Keith) Shamhart; “adopted” son, Tim (Ruth) McCoy; grandchildren, Tracy (Doug) Collins, Jerri Cummings, Eddie Cook and Brandon (Kelly) Shamhart; great-grandchildren, Ty Collins, Will Collins and Chase Lee; sisters, Patty Cayton and Helen Bandy; nephews and nieces, Steve (Lisa) Cayton, Scott (Gretchen) Cayton, LeAnne (Eddie) Scott, Carolyn (Stan) Kylik, Butch (Karen) Stiles, Jenny (Brian) Suman, and Lori (Bob) Bodrie; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at D.W. Davis Funeral Home in South Webster, Ohio, with Pastor Larry Moore officiating and interment in South Webster Cemetery, with military graveside rites by the American Legion James Dickey Post. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to the funeral hour Friday.
