Gregory Michael Fitzer, 29, of Westerville, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007.

He was born Dec. 25, 1977, in Portsmouth, to Stephen and Susan Glockner Fitzer. He attended St. John Neumann Church in Sunbury, Ohio, and was chief financial analyst for Ohio Housing Finance Agency. He was a graduate of Texas Christian University and was working on his master's degree at Ashland University.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Dr. Emily Stout Fitzer; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Austin and Carla Stout, of Lewis Center, Ohio; a brother, Brett Fitzer, of Portsmouth; a grandmother, Betty Lou Fitzer, of Portsmouth; and a grandfather, Edward Glockner, of Portsmouth. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, William Fitzer; and a grandmother, Joanne Glockner.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Portsmouth with the Rev. Dwayne McNew officiating and burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Arrangement are under the direction of Melcher Funeral Home in Portsmouth.

The family's favorite charity is SOMC Hospice, located at 2201 25th St., Portsmouth, OH 45662.

Greg had a great sense of humor, was an avid Notre Dame University football fan and enjoyed his volunteer work with Hospice. He loved Emily and his family, and was looking forward to the birth of his son in November.
