He was born on July 2, 1995, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of Bob and Kenya Johnson.
Riley is survived by his mom and dad; brother, Rob Johnson and Holly; nephew, Caden Robert Johnson; grandparents, “Granny” Helen Johnson, of Wheelersburg, “Grammy” Sherry Russell, of Latham, and “Grampy” Bill Russell, of Latham; aunts and uncles, “Rha Rha” Rhonda Mays and “Scottie” Scott Mays, of Wheelersburg, “Aunt Sissy” Kelly Russell, of Chillicothe, Larry and Kathy Porter, of Floyd's Knob, Ind., Gregg and Vicki Johnson, of Statesville, N.C., and Ina Jane Bowen, of Portsmouth; great-grandpa Cass Russell, of Pike County; special grandparents, Papaw Kenneth and Sarah Johnson, of Wheelersburg; very special cousins, Jenna and Carly, and Amanda, Sarah, Brad, James, Hannah, Stacy and Kelly; and many other “cousins,” family, and school and neighborhood friends.
He was preceded in death by his great-granddad, Riley Johnson; great-grandma, Stella Russell; grandfather, Ronald Johnson; and great-grandparents, Robert and Annabelle Jordan.
Riley attended Sciotoville Christian Church, was a sixth-grader at Bloom Vernon Elementary School and was a special kid to so many people. He loved church and he loved school - but not schoolwork. He loved his family, his teachers, little kids, old people, music, catching things, South Webster basketball, riding, his neighborhood, swimming, the fair, playing with his many friends, fishing, cooking, joking and many, many other things.
Riley's family respectfully requests absolutely no flowers be sent. They ask that anyone wishing to help them during this time, consider writing down a special memory or “Riley story” and giving it to them. Also, any and all contributions to Bloom Vernon Legacy Fund, in Riley's name, will be valued, appreciated and treasured forever. “We feel much comfort in being able to share in something for other kids that will live on after Riley.” The family will personally and individually thank each person who contributes to the Legacy Fund in Riley's name. Donations to the Legacy Fund should be sent to Bloom-Vernon Local School District, P.O. Box 100, South Webster, OH 45682.
Memorial service will be noon Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at South Webster High School with Jason Lykins and Jeremy Wasch, ministers, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at South Webster High School and from 10 a.m. until noon Wednesday at the high school.
Private burial will take place at Vernon Cemetery following the memorial service.
