Bernice R. Queen, 68, of Lucasville, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, Sept. 3, 2007.

Born Feb. 22, 1939, in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Marshall Doyle Sr. and Lilly Fetters Doyle, was a substitute teacher for Portsmouth Elementary School, an ordained minister for the Christian Baptist Church of God Association, a member of North Moreland Christian Baptist Church and former administrator for Faith Bible Institute. Bernice was a graduate of East High School having recently participated in her 50-year reunion, a graduate of Ohio University, was a Sunday School teacher for Route No.5 Christian Baptist Church in Ashland, Ky., a teen youth leader, Children's Ministry worker, and former kindergarten teacher for Kiddie Land Learning Center.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, John, Willard, Herbert, Marshall Jr., Wendell, Russell and Stanley Doyle; and a sister, Lavelle Johnson.

Surviving are her husband, Jerry Queen; two sons, Michael Joseph (Karen) Queen and Guy Christopher (Beth) Queen; a brother, Larry “Sam” Doyle, of Vacaville, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Aron, Cylia, and Christopher “Little Britches.”

A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the North Moreland Christian Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Baer, the Rev. Debbie Baer, and the Rev. Gerald Davis officiating. Interment will be in Rosemount Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
