West Portsmouth native Rick Ferrell will perform this weekend at Greenbo Lake State Park in Greenup, Ky.

He will be playing with his band Bluefield, which also features Jennifer Hicks, on Friday and Saturday.

Each show will be at the new amphitheater and will start at 8 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Along with his own performing career, Ferrell is a well-known country songwriter.

He wrote “Something Like That” for Tim McGraw and “Where Would You Be” for Martina McBride.

Hicks, of Nashville, was a finalist on USA networks' “Nashville Star” reality show.

Ferrell frequently performs in the tri-state area. Along with playing at Shawnee State University's Vern Riffe Center for the Arts in the past, he recently shot a video at the Columbia Music Hall.

Guests should bring chairs or blankets, and coolers are welcome.

The park is located seven miles off of Ky. 23 behind Greenup.
