Crop Walk open house is Aug. 26

All area churches and organizations wanting to participate in this year's Crop Walk for Hunter can come to pick up materials during an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 808 Offnere St.

Alumni band to perform Saturday

The Waverly High School Alumni Band will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday for the first home football game at 500 East Second Street, Waverly.

The Waverly High School Alumni Band will have practice from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at Waverly High School, 1 Tiger Drive, Waverly. All Waverly Band Alumni are encouraged to attend. For more information, call 740-493-2310.

Summer luau set for Saturday

USA Dance - Portsmouth will have a end of summer luau from 7 p.m. Saturday at SOMC Life Center gym, 1202 18th St. Cost will be $7 per person for members of SOMC and USA Dance or $10 per person for nonmembers.a Dress will be casual or luau attire with leather or suede soled shoes. Light snacks will be available.

From 7 to 8 p.m. Sallie Debolt and Scott Rollins will teach a hustle group lesson and perform an exhibition of advanced hustle techniques.

The dance party will be from 8 to 10:30 p.m. with music by Just Ballroom Sandi Elam, disc jockey.
