Scioto County Prosecutor Mark Kuhn said Charles L. Euton, 26, of Diehlman Branch Road, McDermott, was arraigned in the Scioto County Common Pleas Court Room of Judge William T. Marshall, Monday, where he entered a not guilty plea to a charge of rape of a child under 10 years of age.
In another indictment in Judge Marshall's court, Josiah Griffith, 25, of Poplar Fork, Franklin Furnace, was indicted on a charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, 10 or more years of age.
Gregory R. Craft, 39, of Elza Lane, West Portsmouth, also was indicted in Judge Marshall's court on eight counts of pandering. Four of the counts involve pandering obscenity involving a minor and the other four pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor.
Euton was arrested by the Scioto County Sheriff's Office on June 28 for the rape of a 5-year-old child.
At that time, Sheriff's Detect-ive Jodi Conkel reported Euton had turned himself in to face one count of rape, a felony of the first degree, and was placed in the Scioto County Jail on $50,000 bond.
“They have strengthened the child rape sentencing in the last seven years,” said prosecutor Kuhn. “For the rape of a 5-year-old, the maximum sentence is life, but with the possibility of parole.”
Kuhn said Euton is being held in the Scioto County Jail on $250,000 cash or surety bond, Griffith is incarcerated on $50,000 cash or surety bond. Kuhn said Craft also is being held in the jail on $50,000 cash or surety bond, but is being held without bond on another charge.
“Realistically, all three should be incarcerated until their first pretrials,” Kuhn said.
