Post 23 earned its 30th win of the season on the regular season's final day with a 6-2 win over the Chillicothe Blaze on Wednesday.
The Blaze were short two players so Aaron Noel and Aaron Oesch played for the Blaze and Noel even drove in the first run but Justin Montgomery earned the win for Post 23 with five innings and nine strikeouts.
John Harcha was 2 for 5 with two doubles and Zac Bukiewicz added two hits of his own for Post 23.
“Throughout the year looking back, it was really nice to see a team that gelled,” said Post 23 assistant Tom Bergan. “There was no real my school, your school kind of thing. It really opened up my eyes to baseball in this area. Its another step in the right direction for kids that want to play at the next level.”
Shaun Cook, Bryan White and Ryan McAlister each had a hit for Post 23, and White scored two runs.
Post 23 will open district tournament play against Chillicothe Post 757 today at VA stadium in Chillicothe.
