Elijah B. Scaff, 74, of Blue Creek, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at his residence, following an extended illness.

He was born in Rush, Ohio, March 19, 1933, the son of the late Eli and Julia Amanda McGinnis Scaff. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Sarah Shultz, Maxine Polley and Mary Thomas; one brother, Richard Scaff; and an infant brother and sister, Curtis Truman Scaff and Hazel Jane Scaff.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Myers Scaff; four daughters, Deanna Rosselot, of West Union, Rachael Newberry, of Beaver, Ohio, Amanda Williams, of Blue Creek, and Talitha Parks, of Manchester; three sons, Randy Scaff, of Alabama, Aaron Scaff and Eli Scaff, of Waverly; 15 grandchildren, Tye Aaron Scaff, Tristan Louderback Peterson, Jamie Rosselot, Cory Joe Scaff, Devon Newman, Brooklyn Newberry, Kirrissa and Madelyn Scaff, Katelynd and Jaden Williams, Austin, Connor and Nathan Parks, Christin and Nicholas Elijah Scaff; two great-granddaughters, Paige Scaff and Makayla Peterson; one daughter-in-law, Jessica (Vance) Scaff; four sons-in-law, J.D. Rosselot, Lee Newberry, Chad Williams and Michael Parks; four brothers, Robert (Jo) Scaff of Medway, Ohio, Bill Scaff, of West Union, Warren Scaff, of Columbus, and George Scaff, of Waverly; one brother-in-law, Ed Thomas; and a special friend of the family, Regina Culpepper. He leaves behind many other friends, relatives and neighbors who will remember him fondly.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, July 21, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Refuge Church, 91 Rolling Woods Drive, just off of Ohio 247, West Union, OH 45693, with Pastor Boyd Young and Pastor Doug Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Adams County Honor Guard.

Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Refuge Church. Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles is charge of arrangements.
