Kentucky announces Web site
A new Web site for the Kentucky State Parks that provides more information and photographs of some of the state's favorite tourist destinations has been unveiled.
More photo galleries showing the parks, golf courses, meeting facilities, and accommodations have been added. Each of the 17 resort parks has a naturalist and recreation page that provides more information about programming and events.
There also is specific information about hiking trails, fishing, boating and swimming. Maps of the parks have been added. The site still allows visitors to make online reservations for camp sites, lodge rooms and cottages, and to purchase gift cards.
The address for the Kentucky State Park web site remains the same - www.parks.ky.gov.
Sheriff seizes marijuana plants
Some days just seem to go to “pot.” That's what deputies of the Greenup County Sheriff's Office reported Tuesday.
Sheriff Keith M. Cooper said he and his deputies seized 23 marijuana plants growing in the Siloam area, in rural Greenup County, at around noon.
Cooper said an anonymous citizen contacted him at his office Monday to advise him the plants had been located by a hunter.
Following up on the tip Tuesday, Cooper found the plants growing along the edge of a corn field. Cooper said the plants were fenced in with chicken wire and had been recently been tended.
The investigation continues under the direction of Cooper, who asks anyone with information regarding illegal growing operations or other drug information to call him at (606) 473-9833. All tips will be kept confidential.
