Cancer screenings are Thursday at KDMC
King's Daughters is presenting free skin cancer screenings beginning at 9 a.m. May 31 at King's Daughters Medical Specialties Portsmouth, 2001 Scioto Trail, Suite 100.
Radiation oncologist Jeff Lopez, M.D., will perform the skin cancer screenings, which take approximately five minutes to complete. In addition to the free screenings, attendees will learn more about skin cancer, their risk level, and what they can do to prevent it.
Reservations are required and can be made by calling toll-free (888) 377-KDMC. Note that all other free skin cancer screening events for May have been filled.
OUS Activity Band performs concerts
The Ohio University Southern Activity Band will perform music with the theme of “Some of This, Some of That” at its two upcoming annual spring performances. The title reflects the diversity of music to be performed including Irish, ragtime, “Tin Pan Alley,” patriotic, and theater tunes. The first performance is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the OUS Nature Center amphitheater at Lake Vesuvius.
The band also will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, in the OUS Riffe Center Mains Rotunda. The band, under the direction of Pat McCoy, Ph.D., consists of approximately 15 student and community members and performs regularly on and off-campus during the school year. Admission to both events is free and open to the public.
