Gary L. Brown, 64, of Wheelersburg died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born March 15, 1947, a son of the late Woodrow and Irene Underwood Brown. He was a retired guard from SOCF, served in the Air Force during Vietnam, and was a member of the American Legion Post 471 and the Forty and Eight Club. Gary is survived by his wife Penny Monoskie Brown whom he married June 2, 2004, in Greenup, Ky.; two daughters, Michelle Allard (Raymond) of Wheelersburg, Lisa Rice of Wheelersburg; one stepson, Michael Yates (Jeannie) of Wheelersburg; one sister, Peggy McGraw of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren, Matthew Allard, Ryan Allard, Alex Hickman, Montana Yates, Morgan Silvey, Dakota Yates, Chantel Yates, Allie Rice, Madison Rice; one great-grandchild, Annalynn Allard; and several nieces and nephews. Gary was also preceded in death by one brother, Woodrow Wilson Brown, Jr.; four sisters, Gail Holbrook, Wilma Nichols, and two infant sisters.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Carl Rose officiating. Burial will be at Scioto Burial Park with graveside military honors by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at D.W. Swick in New Boston.
