He was born Oct. 3, 1925, in Portsmouth, a son of the late George and Elizabeth Adams. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Simon Adams. Surviving are sons, James and Todd Adams; daughters, Sally Bailey and Kathy McKenzie; sister, Mary Jane Switalski 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Melcher Funeral Home in Portsmouth with the Rev. Ted Machnik officiating and interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites by James Dickey Post American Legion.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
