Scioto County sheriff's detectives said on Wednesday that they have arrested a West Portsmouth man for having child pornography on his computer.

According to the Scioto County Sheriff's Office, detectives responded with officers from the Scioto County Common Pleas court on Monday to search the house of a probationer, Gregory Craft, 39, of West Portsmouth, after being informed he was downloading child pornography from the Internet.

After searching the residence, detectives impounded Craft's computer for evidence, and filed a warrant charging him with illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material - a fifth-degree felony, according to the sheriff's office.

The computer was sent to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification for the crime lab to process. Additional charges may follow.

Detective Jodi Conkel of the Scioto County Sheriff's Office said that Craft already was on probation stemming from 2006 charges of voyeurism.

According to the Scioto County Court of Common Pleas Web site, Craft pleaded guilty to voyeurism on Aug. 15, 2006, and was sentenced to serve 120 days in the Scioto County Jail, with five years probation. He also was given a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew and he was prohibited from possessing any video equipment.

Craft is being held in the Scioto County Jail on a probation holder that has no bond. He will appear before the Portsmouth Municipal Court today.
