Mitchell Hall, 67

Mitchell Vaughn Hall, 67, of Grayson, Ky., died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at his home.

He was born June 24, 1939, in Carter County, Ky., a son of the late George Sherman and Nanalee Evans Hall.

Surviving are daughter, Mary Porter; sisters, Alene Walker, Lillian Blevins, Ethel Looney, Laura Miller and Grace Rogers; brothers, Gary Hall, Alva Mullins and Dean Mullins; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson with George Steele officiating and interment in East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ruth Hall, 80

Ruth E. Hall, 80, of Ironton, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at a Russell, Ky., hospital.

She was born May 17, 1926, in Lawrence County, a daughter of the late Earl and Katie Kelly Waddle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Hall.

Surviving are her sons, John and Danny Stewart; daughter, Wanda Gillespie; sister, Genevieve Maddy, Henrietta Gannon, Betty Mullins, Patty Nichols and Peggy Mullins; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton with Dave Schug and Dale Maddy, D.D., officiating and interment in Zoar Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Meda Gayhart, 90

Meda Maggie Gayhart, 90, of Beaver, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at a Waverly hospital.

She was born July 20, 1916, in Boone County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Daniel and Minnie Piatt Gunnoe. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Gayhart.

Surviving are her sons, Carl and Cecil Gayhart; daughters, Arbutus Shelby, Betty Perry and Sylvia Jordon; sisters, Lessie Greene, Annie Gibson and Nora Dillion; 22 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pauls Chapel Church, Ohio 776, Jackson County, with Rex Maynard and Don Stewart, ministers, officiating and interment in Pauls Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Anchor of Hope Church of God, corner of East and Second streets, Waverly. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Beaver.

Clay Copley, 47

Clay Copley, 47, of Franklin Furnace, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at an Ashland, Ky., hospital.

He was born Sept. 7, 1959, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Andy and Elizabeth Mollett Copley.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Copley; daughter, Stephanie Copley; brother, Tom Copley; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Tony Mollett officiating and interment in Mollett Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Edward Huels, 81

Edward W. “Bud” Huels, 81, of Portsmouth, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 11, 1926, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Edward George Huels and Helen Julia Gilliland. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

There are no survivors.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at F. C. Daehler Mortuary in Portsmouth with the Rev. Evan Fisher officiating and interment in Greenlawn Cemetery with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post American Legion. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

James Stevens, 72

James D. “Danny” Stevens, 72, of Piketon, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 4, 1935, in Scioto County, a son of the late Jake and Viola Ealey Stevens. He was a Korean War Air Force veteran.

Surviving are sons, Dannie and Kenny Stevens; brothers, Elmer Stevens, Jake Stevens Jr. and Tom Stevens; sisters, Madene Carpenter, Shirley Hackworth, Betty Turner and Dora Smith; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly with Bill Colley officiating and interment in Mount Olive Cemetery with military graveside services by Merritt Post American Legion.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Lahoma Royster, 73

Lahoma Deloris Royster, 73, of Columbus, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at a Columbus nursing home.

She was born June 7, 1933, in Williamson, W.Va., a daughter of the late Bill and Alice Griffith Mullins.

Surviving are her husband, Bernard Royster; sons, Paul Fredrick and Dan Smith; daughter, Tana Mitchell; stepson, Mike Royster; stepdaughter, Teresa Bittoni; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Three Mile Christian Baptist Church in Greenup, Ky., with Gene Wilburn officiating and interment in Plum Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday at Wright's Funeral Home in Greenup.

Earl Carmickle, 85

Earl Louis Carmickle, 85, of Lucasville, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

He was born May 1, 1921, in Manila, Ark., a son of the late Louis Hendricks and Eva Anna King Carmickle. He was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Mathews Carmickle; daughters, Betty Jane Duwe, Jeanette Walsh and Donna Marie Vallery; brother, Russell Carmickle; 12 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Sam Peters officiating and interment in Jacob Cemetery with graveside military rites by William A. Baker Post American Legion.

Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
