Portsmouth Police reported the arrests of two people at Days Inn at Rosemount on Friday, each charged with drug-related crimes.

According to the Portsmouth Police Department, officers from the Narcotics Unit, Scioto County Sheriff's Office and Scioto County Prosecutor's Office executed a search warrant at Room 153 of the Days Inn motel at Rosemount Friday, following a tip from a subject who had left the room and observed “a large amount of crack cocaine inside.”

Upon execution of the search warrant, officers found Cornelius Yarbrough, 24, of Columbus, and Amanda Jenkins, 19, of Sciotoville.

According to police reports, Yarbrough was identified by officers at the Columbus Police Department as a Columbus gang member, with the 22nd Street Bloods.

During a search of the room, officers recovered about 26 grams of crack cocaine, 1 gram of powder cocaine, two ounces of marijuana, a set of digital scales for weighing drugs and $845 in cash.

Yarbrough is on probation for previous drug convictions in Scioto County, police said.

Officers arrested Yarbrough and charged him with possession of crack cocaine, trafficking in crack cocaine, and probation violation. Jenkins also was arrested on charges of possession of crack cocaine and trafficking in crack cocaine.

Police Chief Charles Horner encourages people in Portsmouth to call in reports of drug activity to (740) 354-3784. Scioto County residents can call Sheriff Marty Donini's office at (740) 354-7566.
