According to the sheriff's office, the Scioto County 911 center received an alarm call on Jan. 10 that Mule Town Mini Mart, located at 9445 Ohio 335 in Minford, had been broken into.
Upon arrival, deputies observed the front glass had been broken out and about $5,000 worth of cigarettes and tobacco products were stolen, along with an undetermined amount of cash.
Deputies from the Gallia County Sheriff's Office then responded to a break-in at the Par Mar store in Vinton on Tuesday, which led to a high speed chase along Ohio 325 and U.S. 35, with speeds reaching in excess of 100 mph, and ending near Tick Ridge Road.
Gallia County Sheriff's deputies arrested Albert Charles, 21, of Scioto Furnace, and Larry Bradley, 23, of Scioto Furnace. The Scioto County Sheriff's Office said a 17-year-old juvenile also was arrested.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty Donini said all three were charged with breaking and entering and felony theft. Charles and Bradley are being detained in the Gallia County Jail on charges in both Gallia and Pike counties, including breaking and entering where cigarettes also were stolen.
After an ongoing investigation, a large quantity of cigarettes were recovered from a South Webster residence, according to the Scioto County Sheriff's Office.
The Gallia County Sheriff's Office said it believes Bradley and Charles are part of a tobacco theft ring operating in Scioto, Gallia and Pike counties.
Both Charles and Bradley will be extradited back to Scioto County to face local charges. The juvenile was released to his parents pending a court appearance in juvenile court.
Sheriff Donini said that this is an ongoing investigation, and more charges could follow.
