Mary Bevins, 77

Mary Ellen Bevins, 77, of Beaver, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 31, 1929, in Beaver, a daughter of the late Merrill E. and Emily Jane Butler Hartley.

Surviving are sons, James, Frank “Doc,” Ray , Rick and Leemon Bevins; daughters, Nancy Bowen, Mabel Woods, Linda Strong and Beverly Stevens; brother, Owen “Deke” Hartley; 32 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Marilyn Collins officiating and interment in Beaver Union Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Everett Bridges, 51

Everett G. "Prong" Bridges , 51, of Pedro, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at a Russell, Ky., hospital.

He was born May 9, 1955, in Ironton, a son of the late Everett “Buck” and Nonnie Aldridge Bridges.

Surviving are sons, Everett Bridges III and Rodney Bridges; brother, Lee Bridges; half brother, Perry Aldridge; and one grandchild.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lawrence Furnace Cemetery with Dave Schug officiating.

There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton.

Darlene Crawford, 43

Darlene Kay Rogers Crawford, 43, of Portsmouth, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center emergency room.

She was born Dec. 12, 1963, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Charles Manuel and Marjorie Elizabeth Williams Rogers.

Surviving are her husband, Lamont Emanuel Crawford; sons, Robert and Terrell Rogers; daughter, Kiona Rogers; brother, Charles E. Rogers; and sisters, Karen Reed, Tenice Rogers and Shonda Maxon.

Services will be noon Monday at Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Sandra Lattimore officiating and interment in Memorial Burial Park.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the funeral home.

Anna Potter, 78

Anna Elizabeth Potter, 78, of South Shore, Ky., died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2007, at an Ashland, Ky., hospice.

She was born Sept. 6, 1928, in Baltimore, Md., a daughter of the late William Joseph Davenport and Anna Martin Bryant Davenport.

Surviving are her husband, Ernest Potter; daughters, Delores Rogers, Connie Ison, Joyce Witt and Martha Jarrell; sons, Ernie and Roy Potter; brothers, Austin Brian and Charles Roger “Buzzy” Davenport; sister, Amelia Foy; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore with Gary Howell officiating and interment in Siloam Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Donald Veach, 66

Donald R. Veach, 66, of South Shore, Ky., died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at an Ashland, Ky., hospital.

He was born Dec. 14, 1940, in Lewis County, Ky., a son of the late Paul Veach and Ruth Blizzard Veach. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Amelia Wilson Veach.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Pollard Veach; son, Donald R. Veach Jr.; daughter, Christine Pickelsimer; stepson, Jeffrey Zaph; stepdaughters, Kelly Adkins and Rusty Zaph; brother, Elmo Veach,; sister, Donna Farmer; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at South Shore First Church of God, Main Street, South Shore, with the Rev. Harold Harness officiating and interment in Collier Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore and from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
