Wilma Sisler, 80

Wilma Jean Reinhart Hill Sisler, 80, of Hill View Retirement Center, died Dec. 18, 2006.

She was born on April 6, 1926, in Ross County. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Hill.

Surviving are her husband, John Sisler; sons, Marvin and Mel Hill; and sisters, Beatrice Spindler and Marjorie Congrove.

Memorial service will be conducted Saturday at Hill View Retirement Center, 1610 28th St.

Luella Fannin, 86

Luella Queen Fannin, 86, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at Best Care in Wheelersburg.

She was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Martin, Ky., a daughter of the late Claude Queen and Rose Hamblin Queen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Fannin.

Surviving are sons, Jay and John Markins; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with interment in Siloam Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

David Gambill, 48

David L. Gambill, 48, of Portsmouth, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at a Lima hospital.

He was born on Feb. 5, 1958 in Portsmouth, a son of Phyllis Valentine and the late Jack Gambill.

Also surviving are his stepfather, James Valentine; brothers, Mark Gambill , Ronald Schiltz and Donald Schiltz; sister, Vicki Fuller.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth.

Tony McCoy, 44

Tony Allen McCoy, 44, of Jackson, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at his residence.

He was born March 1, 1962, in Gallia County, a son of the late Wayne and Helen McGuire McCoy.

Surviving are daughters, Samantha, Helena and Amber McCoy; sister, Brenda Keels; and brother, Mike McCoy.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Kuhner-Lewis Funeral Home in Oak Hill, and interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Henry Miller, 89

Henry L. Miller, 89, of Wheelersburg, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at his residence.

He was born July 13, 1917, in Wheelersburg, a son of the late Fred H. and Elizabeth Piquet Miller.

He was also preceded in death by wife, Lenora Eileen Fankell Miller.

Surviving are son, Larry D. Miller; daughter, Cheryl Steele; three granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Pastor Chris Oiler officiating and interment at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Memorial Burial Park.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rev. Gerald Moyer, 68

The Rev. M. Gerald Moyer, 68, of Rockledge, Fla., died Dec. 26, 2006, in Tulsa, Okla.

He was born in Ashland, Ky., a son of the late Charles and Linnie Moyer.

Surviving are wife, Patricia A. Moyer; son, the Rev. Gerald Wesley Moyer; grandson, Josiah Moyer; three sisters; and two brothers.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Christ United Methodist Church in Ashland, Ky.

Martha Owens, 79

Martha Darlene Gore Owens, 79, of Ironton, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at Ashland, Ky., hospice center.

She was born May 14, 1927, in Ironton, a daughter of the late William J. and Lillian Allen Gore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Owens.

She is survived by son, Kenneth DeLawder; sister, Nora Lewis; four grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton, with Rev. John Brown officiating and interment in Mamre Cemetery.

Friends may call after noon Thursday at the funeral home.



Charlotte Thurman, 39

Charlotte Renee Thurman, 39, of Vanceburg, Ky., died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at a Columbus hospital.

She was born May 13, 1967, in Columbus, a daughter of Annie Thurman and the late James Thurman.

Survivors also include her husband, Rodney Dean Corns; sons, Derrick and Brett Brown; brothers, Jamie, Tim, Dean, Billie and Gene Thurman; and sisters, Sheila Cooper and Carl Thurman.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Garrison (Ky.) Funeral Chapel with Bobby Skaggs officiating and interment in Rock Run Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Laura Vanhoose, 79

Laura Jean Vanhoose, 79, of Catlettsburg, Ky., died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at an Ashland, Ky., care center.

She was born Jan. 20, 1926, in Ashland, Ky., a daughter of the late Bernard and Mary Fowler Kouns. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carey Vanhoose.

Surviving are sons, Bernard Mills and Wallace Mills Jr.; daughters, Bonnie Lou Trimble, Gwen Gyer and Sandra Kay Elliott; brother, Bill Kouns; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Dick Vastine

John Richard “Dick” Vastine, 57, of Wheelersburg, formerly of McDermott, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

He was born July 28, 1949, in McDermott, a son of the late John and Gertrude Crabtree Vastine.

He also was preceded in death by wife, Libby Cooper Vastine.

He is survived by one son, Richard Vastine; daughter, Jennifer Vastine; and sister, Ruth Conley.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Community Bible Church in Lucasville, with George Vastine officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.

Ralph Walters Sr., 70

Ralph E. Walters Sr., 70, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007 at home.

He was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Minford, a son of the late Matthew and Gladys Walters.

Surviving are daughters, Theresa Will, Kimberly Emshwiller, Michelle Pearrell and Nancy Melissa Walters; son, Ralph “Gene” Walters Jr.; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Helen Perry, Ruth Arthur, and Mary Stoalenberger; and brothers, Kernie and James Walters.

Service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 West Broad St., Columbus with entombment in Green Lawn Cemetery.

Martha L. Wamsley

Martha Lorraine Wamsley, 91, of East Fourth St., Waverly, Ohio, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, in a Waverly nursing home.

She was born Jan. 4, 1915, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Philip and Ida Vogel Lust.

She was preceded in death by husband, Eugene P. Wamsley.

Surviving are son, James Wamsley; daughter, Martha Kopp; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be10:30 a.m. Friday at Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly with Chaplain Renee Burleigh officiating and interment in Confidence Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
