Hamilton is a league administrator and was visiting a business Wednesday afternoon on Gallia Street in New Boston to pick up a donation. Inside his vehichle parked outside, he left a folder of last year’s donation forms. While he was inside the business, someone reportedly stole the forms from his vehicle. Now he fears they might use them to go door-to-door asking for donations and scamming residents out of money.
He said if anyone other than himself asks for a donation to the New Boston Youth Basketball League, do not give them any money and immediately notify police. Hamilton said charges will be filed once the guilty person or persons are caught. New Boston and Portsmouth police departments and the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office have been notified to be watchful for anyone collecting money for the league.
If anyone has information on the missing donation forms, Hamilton asks they contact the New Boston Police Department at 740-456-4109.
