With Christmas rapidly approaching, several events are scheduled in celebration of the season.

The Cirque d'Art Theatre will present Santa's First Christmas today at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Southern Ohio Museum near the Roy Rogers Esplanade.

Tickets are $6 and $4 for museum members, seniors and students.

The holiday celebration continues on Thursday at Shawnee State University's Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.

The Oak Ridge Boys will perform their greatest hits and holiday favorites. The band has performed a holiday show at SSU for the past several years to a sold-out audience.

“We're doing it like this because we don't want someone yelling out ‘Elvira' during the Christmas portion,” Oak singer Joe Bonsall said during last year's show.

Reserved seats are $37, with discounts for seniors, students and families.

Another Scioto County tradition will continue on Friday with the annual Tour of Churches event.

The evening will feature candlelight tours of the Boneyfiddle area and its churches with guides dressed in old-fashioned clothing.

The following churches will be visited on the tour:
