School board president, wife thanked for youth support

I just wanted to write a little note to thank two people for their support of the youth in our community. Our fifth and sixth grade East Tartan football team was in the superbowl.

The president of our school board, Bill Shope, and his wife, Foresta, who is the fifth and sixth grade teacher at East, came out to support the boys. Bill helped in the press box and Mrs. Shope dressed in her blue and white wig, painted her face and cheered the boys onto victory.

Last year, our boys were in the superbowl and Mrs. Shope was there as well. Even though none of these boys are theirs they think of them as their own.

Those kids will never forget that night, and it makes it a little extra special knowing that their teacher and school board president love them that much. So, thank you Bill and Foresta for loving our kids!

Reader criticizes use of handicapped areas

I can't believe all of the handicapped cards you can see hanging in vehicles and bumper stickers.

Being on SSI or Social Security does not give you the right to park in a handicapped area.

I would like to see, especially in my state, whoever wins this election (county court clerk) do something to cut down on the abuse. Doctors also can help stop this abuse. Maybe photos should be taken.

Shame on you if you are lazy or just don't care about the people who need these areas.
