Co-written by local songwriters Russ and Ron Pruitt, the song echoes the national controversy going on between those who believe that Christ should continue to be in the central focus of the holiday.
Russ Pruitt, who has already had some songwriting success picked Stephens for this project.
“I believe the song has the potential to become a classic. It combines contemporary and traditional themes, both lyrically and melodically,” he said. “It needed a voice that could do it justice. Anne is one of the greatest female vocalists to ever come out of this area. She has consistently dazzled area crowds and will not disappoint with this effort.”
Stephens is a music educator at Raceland (Ky.) High School.
Her husband, Tom, arranged the song and played all the instruments.
He also teaches music at Raceland High School and he is the pastor of First Baptist Church in Raceland.
The CD can be ordered by the middle of November at the Web site www.KeepChristinyourChristmas.com.
The CD will also be available at other area businesses and churches.
In May, Russ Pruitt received a contract to publish his song “Shout the Glory Down” from Crossroads Music in North Carolina.
