Police said they were called to a fight in the 1900 block of 11th Street Wednesday at about 5 p.m.
Officers said when they arrived, a man was complaining that he had been robbed. Police gave chase and pulled over a car, and said they not only found the money - $40 - in the car, but drugs and drug paraphernalia, as well resulting in several arrests.
The robbery victim, Clay E. Easley, 40, of 200 White Station Road, Seymour, Ind., first told police his name was Brad Smith, but a check by police turned up the name Clay E. Easley, and several warrants from Indiana.
He was treated for multiple injuries at Southern Ohio Medical Center, and is being held in the Scioto County jail, awaiting transport to Indiana on outstanding warrants charging theft, failure to appear and receiving stolen property. The local charges against Easley include being a fugitive from justice and obstruction of official business, for giving police a false name.
Roger W. Wright, 39, of 1125 North St., Wheelersburg, is charged with assaulting the victim and taking two $20 bills. He is charged with robbery and is being held in the Scioto County Jail on $7,500 bond.
Kenneth E. Conley, 46, 2316 17th St., also reportedly was in the car at the time of the arrests and during the patting down by a police officer, was found to have a glass tube, used as a crack pipe, in his shirt pocket.
Officers said that back at the police station, a further search turned up an off-white rock in the same pocket. Conley is charged with drug paraphernalia and possession of drugs-cocaine. Conley was released on bond.
Police also arrested Kathy C. Layne, 39, of 3576 Center Point Road, Oak Hill, as the driver of the vehicle. Officers said during a search of Layne's purse, they found a pill box container with cocaine and a crack pipe. Layne is charged with complicity and possession of cocaine. She also was on probation for a drug conviction, and is being held in jail on a holder from the court, and $7,500 bond on the complicity charge.
