PDT staff report

Art Kuhn has been named managing editor of the Portsmouth Daily Times. Publisher Clif Forrest announced his appointment effective Tuesday.

Kuhn returns to Ohio after a 10-year stint with the Inland Daily Bulletin in Ontario, Calif., where he served as assistant news editor for the 69,000 circulation morning newspaper.

“The community newspaper should be exactly that - the community's newspaper,” Kuhn said. “The focus will be on local news, people and events. It is our job to keep the people informed about their community, what's happening, why, what it means to and how it affects them.”

Kuhn has been honored by the Associated Press for a series of stories on a community's successful effort to save its hospital.

Kuhn, who attended Ohio University and studied journalism, has previously served as managing editor in Urbana and Washington Court House and in West Covina, Calif.

Originally from Logan, Kuhn said, “After reading the newspaper for several weeks we appear to have an excellent editorial staff at the Portsmouth Daily Times. I will be accessible. I will be visible and welcome input from all of those we are here to serve.”

Kuhn, who has a passion for reading in his spare time, and his wife, Liska, has eight children and 12 grandchildren residing in Ohio and California.

They are in the process of relocating to Portsmouth.
