A downtown open house for everyone who is interested in the future of downtown Portsmouth will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Welcome Center, 342 Second St. This open house is for the public to share ideas for the future of the downtown Ports-mouth area.

Red Cross announces new CPR classes

The Ohio River Valley Chapter of American Red Cross will offer several classes:

Adult CPR with AED, Child and Infant CPR and First Aid from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday; cost of $45.

Adult CPR from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 27; cost of $35.

Adult CPR with AED, Child and Infant CPR and First Aid from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 28; cost of $45.

All participants must preregister for classes at the chapter office, 614 Glover St., or call for a registration form at (740) 354-3293, (888) 354-3293, or fax at (740) 353-8735.

Training classes offered in Adams Co.

The Governor's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, in partnership with the FreestoreFoodbank, announced free training classes offered through the Ohio Compassion Capital Project.

The following topics will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.:
